60th Women of Scotland Lunch held in Glasgow

Over 500 women of influence from across Scotland and beyond met in Glasgow on Friday 22 April 2017 to celebrate the 60th anniversary Women of Scotland Lunch.

The speakers were the Rt Hon Ruth Davidson MSP, Dame Professor Sue Black and Diane Goldberg who is a Trustee of Alzheimer Scotland. Alzheimer Scotland was the chosen charity of the year, and it is believed that around £30,000 was raised.

All speakers related to the theme of ‘Reflections’, Sue Black musing on her first job as a butcher’s assistant (a great learning curve for her work today as a forensic anthropologist, Ruth Davidson as a journalist – a great learning curve to working as a politician. Diane Goldberg spoke very movingly about her mother who has Alzheimer’s, showing why she is an ideal Trustee for the charity.

The Reverend Sarah Ross who is the minister at Blantyre Kirk (Question Time is on there next week….) also managed to skilfully tie in the theme to the grace which she delivered before the meal.

Joseph Bonnar Jewellers of Edinburgh had provided a magnificent prize for the annual Prize Draw and other generous sponsors included Edinburgh Gin, Royal Bank of Scotland Private, Redpath Bruce, Nyetimber, Tunnocks, Investec and Danscot Print.

Next year’s lunch will be held on 28 April 2018.
